It's been 2 years now since Im stationed in Bintan,Kepulauan Riau Indonesia (Bintan,Riau Island Indonesia) by my current employer in Singapore...
I was never a bikers...sometime I even accumulated enough hatred towards bikers (Mat Rempit) and always wish they be dead somewhere at the roadside...
I guess it's just from the daily drive around Selangor - KL that you have much experience with this type of bikers...Also since I'm used to be a driver more than rider...ahhahah
Also I think it's from me being brought up under my mom's rule that no family member shall be allowed on any type of bike that goes more than 30kmh...I don't blame her...an uncle of mine pass away in a tragic road accident when a car had strucked him from behind thus he fell into a middle of a busy road with an 18 wheeler behind him...alas...
Since I arrived here,I rented out an SUV instead as I still have my International Driving License which I used in UK...now driving in Bintan isn't exactly like driving around USJ or Malaysia even...here it's the exact opposite...while back in Msia, he who is the biggest owns the road...instead here who has the biggest balls rules...theoretically bikers...and dont get me started with the local taxis Ojek (Bike Taxi) and Trans (Van taxi)...these taxis live in their own sweet world driving around looking for fare at 20kmh pace and stopping like an FA18 jet landing on an aircraft carrier...I've my fare share of near miss with these twat myself...not mentioning my blood pressure had risen dramatically when I started cursing, yelling and swearing for these fools to get out of my way or drive faster....sheesh...3 months of renting and I'm off the 4 wheel...
Then I started prodding with the 2 wheelers...I tell you...Ive never ridden a motorcycle for the past 24 years of my life...its scary...I started to learn to re-balance myself (I last rode a bicycle during Form 4 1999) using an EX5 type bike...wobbly at first but by the 1st hour Im actually riding)...lesson 1 done...
Next day, I
The very next day I purchased my first bike due to reasons Im afraid of damaging other people's bike. Its a Honda GL200D.
Production Made Honda GL200D (Tiger New Revo)
Production Made Honda GL200D (Tiger New Revo)A 200cc 4 Stroke SOHC bike with 6 speed wet plate clutch system. Its a nice bike actually. It's big, and torque is just enough...well it is for me until the 2nd month of riding it...I need more...the 'Rempit' virus started when I changed the tyres to something stickier...I almost bang my head to an exhaust system. Its a Yoshimura system and..it's for my bike -_-...so I bought it...and brapp brapppp....after 1 week of installing the exhaust system...somethings is not right...its misfiring...check the plug and it's fouling...
This is when it all started...
This is when it all started...So I changed to NGK Iridium plug...gahhh...slowly from there...the bike is modded to a level where it's gone from Standard Modified to full blown mod...

Carburettors were changed to a bigger one, racing camshaft...
racing valve and valve springs...
bigger discbrake and sport suspension...
and to make myself thinking that Im not becoming a rempit...I opt for Big Tyre Kit...as you all know Rempit tends to get small tyres or tayar sotong...so yeah...big tyres doesn't make me a Rempit rite?

Hhehehehehe...so tyres,a set of swingarm and others later and there it was...my bike...

The day I picked it up perhaps be the same when I picked Cookie up from Amoil after the VTEC conversion...gila...total amount spent was crazy too as most parts came from Thailand and some from Jakarta...that's the suck part about being in this island...for petrol heads places like Jakarta or Bandung is the bomb...lots of things and shits you can buy there...2nd phase was to make the bike a sport bike...as Im getting sick of a naked version...it doesn't stand out from the crowd...so again made some call from friends in Jakarta and purchase a full body kit set for the bike...

so from a small naked to a faired bike...it doesn't last long though...since it's a mass produced kit...connection and details are not up to par...so 4 months after used I'm back to street fighter mode...5 months later,I found a source that could help me in getting bike parts from Singapore...mind you not accessories but full fledged parts...just like kedai potong...so decide punya decide...I then decided to full mod my bike to replicate Aprilia RS125...
(1) because there's only mod of this kind and (2) because Aprilia is the exact same size as the GL200...no shortening no skinning...
2 weeks of waiting finally my parts arrive...to avoid local money sucker the parts were sent using a fish boat...ahhahaha...complete set of Aprilia RS125 (except the engine were delivered) and 2 months later...an Aprilia RS125 replica was born...modifications were hard...
especially during connection of the meter panel and the rear swingarm...

swingarm for Aprilia is different compared to GL200...Italian steed's chain is on the right part instead of Japanese's one on the left...so I've to make a new tunnel thru the swingarm to make way for the chain...NO WAY...swingarm is important as it holds the bike together...so instead...
I swapped the Aprilia's swingarm with a friend of mine who happens to have Suzuki FXR150's swingarm...same design right side banana so ok laa...plus its from a Japanese bike...and it fits perfectly...so yeah...
I was the envy of the whole island...
whenever I stopped at the traffic light people always stares...whenever I'm at the petrol stationed or car wash or just simply parking my bike, people always asked whether I imported this bike from Singapore or Malaysia...
ahahhaa...people from bike group kept inviting me to join their club or join an event just because I'm riding my modded bike .one fella even thought that I'm an important person from the Government as I'm the only one riding this bike...
I admit my nose kembang gila when I heard the stories...or maybe becos they had eaten my smoke due to my custom under tail exhaust system? :PUntil the part where I was doing overtime until night...on the way back home, mid corner there was sand from accident that had happened there earlier...I lowsided and crashed...I didn't sustained much injuries from it but the bike's left side was badly scratched...lazy to source for another set...so the damage part was taken off...which in turn became a new mod...a poor man's version of SuperMoto...
Renthal fatbar and motocross's hand guard with new headlight set...suspension also was re-tuned to suit the new Multi Terrain...
shit sitting on the bike is difficult...I cant properly plant my foot to the ground...but the new ground clearance is awesome...for your information 1km to my office is not tarmac...its granite+sand terrain so I dont need to stop completely or avoid...I just straight whack the bugger...
One fine day,as I was at a friend's house as usual talk kok when a neighbor came and join...mid talk he told me that he is trying to sell his bike off...an original NSR SP 2001 (CBU Thailand)...ouhh shit...now I know NSR is a 2 stroke bike...and thanks to members of Superbike Malaysia who posted the ultimate 2 stroke race bike...I was hooked..
plus the fella is selling it damn cheap at Rp21million...
I know Jakarta side is selling a normal condition bike at Rp29million...this bike is in immaculate condition...that's like buying an Original EK9 for EK2 price wehh...next day a suitcase full of cash and the bike is mine...
hehehehe my 2nd bike is a race replica bike...NSR SP blew my mind off...it shows me what speed is all about...before that the GL200 to touched 140kmh after being anally abused and whipped...but this NSR??The bike whipped me and called me pussy for being scared to go past the 160kmh mark...problem with the bike is?? Spare parts...Thailand only brought a handful units of NSR SP...and in Bintan? There's only 2 unit including mine...spare part was scary as Ive to go Singapore or order from Jawa for it...shit...2 months ago my piston fried...Ive to wait 3 weeks for the piston to arrive from Singapore...CDI? 2 weeks from Jakarta...and dont get me started on Indonesia's dillema of petrol...normal petrol is 84octane...Pertamax is 90octane and Pertamax Plus is 94octane...price?Premium - 84ron - Rp6250 - RM2.10
Pertamax - 90ron - Rp8100 - RM2.97
Pertamax Plus - 94ron - Rp8560 - RM3.12
So you people seriously need to shut up when BN raise the fuel price. You are a bunch of lucky SODs you just didn't know about it...sheesh...97ron unleaded summore below RM3...
So NSR has to be de-tuned for the local's petrol...its not as fast now...Ive blown 2 piston due to this...Aihhh...
My 3rd bike? A Yamaha Mio Soul...yes...a scooter :P a 110cc city zipper which bought...Indonesia's trend nowadays is lowrider and boy was I hooked...this Mio is bought purely for modifications...and also to be a 2nd 3rd bike in case GL200 or NSR is in the workshop...I tell you GL200 spent more time in the workshop that when it was actually been ridden...damn...NSR?Well yeah but it's tiresome to be riding a 2 stroke especially when it's a limited edition...always have that feeling of scared something happen or broke...ehhehehe...

so the Mio is my 3rd edition modbike...it was damn easy as Mio is the most popular bike to be modded...anywhere I look Mio...every time I called for parts Mio has them....shit...only took me 2 weeks to mod the Mio to lowrider...big wheels...stretched wheelbase...but it was a big burden to the small engine...it has to work harder than it should...but due to it's small displacement,it's internal was also made small...the piston, con rods etc...so the Mio is not able to receive a large bore up kit...sad...due to this I decided to sell the bike for another...After the sales...I then decided to get a Suzuki Skywave (Hayate in Thai Market)...its a 125cc scooter and size as big as Yamaha LC135...as we speak now the bike has been bored to 180cc with oversize piston, forged con rods and valve from bigger bikes...ehheheheh...but Im having problems with the lowrider kit...since it's new bike and not many ppl modify their Skywave so items is scarce and have to be customize...last 3 people I consulted with all giving price range of Rp11million to Rp13million...damn thats the same price as the bike...bike only cost Rp13.7million...Aihhhh
To Be Continued....
